Need help with some math.

So I'm still working on my my water wheel project for my book. I've been scouring the internet to try and find the equations I need but am failing miserably.

What I need to do is figure out the velocity of the stream based on the flow rate. Is this possible or are more variables needed?

At the point of the river I'm thinking, it is approximately 50 meters across, and about 6 meters deep.... so Aprox. 300 m^2

And the daily average flow rate is 11.3 m^3/s

So would I just divide the flow by the area?

I know what you mean, but I'm not anywhere near where the river is. :)
